The DUS upholstered seat was inspired by the theme of the 2017 Asko Foundation “Home Revisited” design competition, which was to explore what ‘home’ might mean in the future. It encouraged us think about the meaning of home on a very personal level. We looked back to our childhood days spent at the summer cottage, where one used to climb onto the roof. From there, it was nice to observe the surroundings or jump into the snowbanks around the cottage. For us, these memories capture the central themes of security and freedom associated with home. And so, DUS began as an experiment based on these memories. The unusual shape of the DUS upholstered seat promotes better posture and can prevent lower back problems.
